Mossanchor

Mossanchor is a ‘Barbarian’ village on the edge of Kryptgarden Forest. It’s the home of Durok Reedstrider. It’s next to the Mossy Lake, which sustains a large part of their livelihood, as its people live off the land and the lake. They’re a spiritualistic bunch, but also worship Gruumsh and regale tales of old glory, especially the Orcish part of the population.

Demographics

  • The village is run by Orc Chief Movrath Ironbark, whose Longhouse sits atop a mount in the center of the town.
  • Somewhere between 100-300 people live here.
  • Roughly 60% Orc or Half-Orc, about 25% are Human, 15% are Wood elves
  • Its citizens are quite self-sufficient. They all know how to shoot a bow or throw a spear. Some can cast rudimentary elemental magic.
  • Magic-users often serve as Shamans. The village’s religion is quite spiritualist, focusing on local spirits, but they also worship Gruumsh
    • The Wood Elf Sylas Cloud-Eye is the main ‘Spirit-Watcher’. He keeps an eye on the Lake. He’s blind.
    • The Orc Brag the Barren is the main ‘Priest of Gruumsh’, which means he talks loudly and acts tough. He also regularly boasts about his romantic conquests. Since he doesn’t have any children, he’s earned the epitaph ‘the Barren’. Nobody’s managed to prove or disprove anything he says.
  • They also sing stories of their conquest of the region, how they conquered some ancient Kingdom of ‘Phalorm’, before they were pushed back by a ‘tide of magic’. Whatever that means.

Politics

  • Mossanchor occupies a nice spot in Kryptgarden Forest, though it’s visited by monsters from the Mere of Dead Men, which keeps them busy. They mostly stay out of politicking with the other tribal villages in the area. Their work keeping monsters out buys them some credit, but they also don’t have very strong alliances with the others.
  • They know about Leilon, but don’t care. Leilon doesn’t explicitly know about them; they’re just some forest barbarians.
  • Seemingly unfriendly relationship with the Goblins in the hills along the High Road
