Members

Charter

I. Membership

  • All active miners in Leilon must register with the Guild.
  • Registration requires:
    • 3 months apprenticeship AND sponsorship by two miners.
  • Dues are deducted automatically from wages.

II. Rights of Miners

  • Guaranteed burial rites (important in a dangerous profession).
  • Injury compensation from Guild coffers.
  • One day of rest per ten-day.
  • Right to petition unsafe working conditions.

III. Safety Standards

  • Timber supports must be inspected monthly.
  • Water seepage must be reported immediately.
  • Magical interference must be declared.

IV. Claim Authority

  • The Guild assigns claim rights within Leilon territory.
  • New veins must be registered.
  • Outside investors require Guild approval.

V. Removal of the Guildmaster

  • Requires ¾ vote of senior miners.
  • Must be held during High Summer assembly.
  • Must cite dereliction, corruption, or incapacity.

Article VII — On Cave-Ins, Structural Collapse, and Subterranean Threats

section I — Immediate Response to Collapse

In the event of structural failure, tunnel breach, or cave-in:

  1. All non-essential personnel shall evacuate to the nearest marked egress.
  2. The Shift Foreman shall account for all registered miners within one hour.
  3. No rescue excavation shall begin until:
    • Timber integrity is assessed, and
    • Secondary collapse risk is reduced.
      Failure to adhere to this procedure shall constitute Reckless Endangerment under Guild statute. (“Reckless Endangerment shall be defined as the willful or negligent act of exposing Guild members to foreseeable harm in pursuit of gain, haste, or concealment.”)

Section II — On Rescue Authority

  • Rescue efforts shall be coordinated by the Guildmaster or appointed Safety Overseer.
  • Magical assistance is permitted but must be documented.
  • Clerical intervention for healing or burial rites shall take precedence over claim preservation.
Section III — On Unnatural or Hostile Presence

In the event that creatures, aberrations, undead, or otherwise hostile entities are discovered within Guild-sanctioned workings:

  1. Mining operations shall cease immediately.
  2. The affected claim shall be marked and sealed.
  3. A notice shall be delivered to:
    • The Town Council, and
    • Any contracted security or adventuring parties.

The Guild shall not assume liability for deaths resulting from ignored danger warnings.

Section IV — Compensation for Incident
  • Families of deceased miners receive burial stipends from Guild funds.
  • Survivors injured in collapse or monster incursion receive:
    • Half wage for one month,
    • Or full wage for one tenday, up to the Guild’s discretion
Section V — On Reopening a Compromised Vein

No collapsed or infested claim shall be reopened without:

  • A formal inspection.
  • Written authorization from the Guildmaster.
  • Financial surety posted by the operating interest.

Article IX — On Conduct Within the Town of Leilon

Section I — Disorderly Conduct

Guild members shall not:

  • Draw steel against fellow miners
  • Assault townsfolk
  • Damage property through drunkenness, negligence, or riotous conduct.

Section II — Liability and Restitution

In the event that Guild members cause damage to inns, taverns, boarding houses, smithies, or other lawful establishments:

  • The Guild may compensate the aggrieved party to preserve our standing and commercial relations.
  • Responsible members shall repay such costs through wage deductions or assigned labor at Guild discretion.
  • Repeat offenders may lose voting privileges for one season.
